Erling Haaland has splashed out £13,000 on train tickets for fans of his former club Bryne, ahead of their huge fixture on Saturday.
The 23-year-old sensation represented the Norwegian side at youth level and made his first senior appearance in 2015 before moving to Molde two years later.
But it appears Haaland still holds much affection for his boyhood club who face a trip to Kristiansand for their play-off game against Start.
Bryne snatched the final play-off place in the OBOS League and now Haaland has showed his generosity to the group of supporters.
With train tickets to Kristiansand costing £52 and 200 supporters set to make the journey, the Manchester City striker has parted with £13,100 to help fans get to the game.
Haaland even went one better by telling fans who opt not to travel by train that he will pay for them to travel by bus.
Byrne’s press spokesman Ole Morten Hobberstad heaped praise on Haaland and told the treble winner that everybody at the club appreciates his kind gesture.
“It’s nice that Erling wants to sponsor a trip for the Bryne supporters, it’s something the whole of Bryne really appreciates,” he said.
“It also contributes to the fact that several people who perhaps did not prioritise it in the first place due to price growth and interest rate increases are now travelling to support Bryne in the promotion qualification.”
Haaland will have the opportunity to tune in to the big game on Saturday night, but not before he takes to the pitch when Manchester City face Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium – exclusively live on talkSPORT.
A win for City can put daylight between themselves and second-placed Liverpool who come into the fixture undefeated in the last five games.
But Pep Guardiola’s men have been warned about the pace of Jurgen Klopp’s visitors ahead of the gargantuan showdown between the title rivals.
