Harry Kane has been in stunning form for Bayern Munich since joining from Tottenham in the summer and has now fired the German giants to the top of the Bundesliga table

Harry Kane has broken two more records as he scored once again to fire Bayern Munich to the top of the Bundesliga.

The England captain has been enjoying a dream season for Bayern since joining them from Tottenham in the summer. He has been in remarkable form, and has already broken a number of records, including scoring the most goals by a Bayern player in his first five Bundesliga appearances.

Despite Kane’s incredible exploits in front of goal, Bayern had seen themselves be surpassed by Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table, with Xabi Alonso’s side sitting top as the perennial champions travelled to Koln on Friday night.

But, overnight at least, it is Thomas Tuchel’s men who now lead the pack. That was thanks to a narrow win at RheinEnergieStadion, which was secured by Kane’s first-half strike for the visitors.

Kane started up front for Bayern and scored the only goal of the game 20 minutes in. Leroy Sane played the ball into Eric Choupo-Moting, who cut inside and had a shot cleared off the line by Julian Chabot. But Kane was on hand to tap home the rebound and claim the three points for Tuchel’s side. As well as a win, the goal also meant that Kane added two more Bundesliga records to his growing collection.

He is now the first Bundesliga player to score 18 goals in the first 12 games of a season, and also the first Englishman to score 18 goals in a single Bundesliga season. Kane now sits above Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund, 2019-20) and Kevin Keegan (Hamburg, 1978-79) in the list of English scorers in one Bundesliga season.

The striker’s form has been delighting his manager, with Bayern recovering from a rocky season last year. And Tuchel has branded his star signing “world-class” following his impressive start to life at the Allianz Arena

He’s more than talented, he’s absolutely world-class. He has talent, ability, aura, personality, modesty, and love and dedication to the game. We persuaded the captain of England to leave England and I think we can pat ourselves on the back for that for a while,” he said last month.

“He’s a huge signing. Harry has made a super start and will get even better the longer he trains with us and once his family arrives too. When he feels at home here, we’ll see his full potential.
