Chair created the first goal by delivering an excellent cross from the left, allowing Smyth to score from close range. Smyth’s goal marked his first since returning to QPR for a second stint in the summer.

Despite being in the Championship bottom three, QPR has shown improvement under new manager Marti Cifuentes, losing only one of his five matches in charge.

Preston struggled to create chances, and QPR posed threats on the counter-attack, with Chair, Andre Dozzell, and Elijah Dixon-Bonner testing Freddie Woodman with long-range strikes after Smyth’s goal.
Preston’s defeat marked their third consecutive loss and the seventh in their past 11 matches. The team has fallen to eighth place, dropping out of the play-off spots after a 4-0 defeat by Middlesbrough earlier in the week.
