Eddie Howe has provided reasoning for the decision to cancel Newcastle United’s Christmas party this year.

Fresh from a significant victory over Fulham, Newcastle United is facing a packed schedule with challenging fixtures, including a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.

Despite the team’s sixth position in the Premier League, manager Eddie Howe has chosen to cancel the Christmas party this year due to the busy upcoming schedule.

Howe emphasized the team’s focus on the competitions ahead, stating, “Christmas party? Dressing up as superheroes? I certainly hope not. If they are, it is unknown to me.

We have got too many games, too busy a schedule for a party like that I hope. We want the games, we want the competition.

We want the excitement of challenging for trophies. That’s where we have to be, not just now but in the future. January sounds like a good month doesn’t it, it sounds like a lot of fun, I’m looking forward to that.”

Eddie Howe’s team reached the Carabao Cup final last season but faced defeat against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium under manager Erik ten Hag.

Reflecting on the past, the 46-year-old expressed optimism for the current season, saying, “The dream didn’t turn to reality, but maybe this year.”

As Newcastle prepares to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, they are dealing with the absence of key players due to injuries and suspensions, coupled with challenging draws in both the Champions League and Carabao Cup. Despite these obstacles, Howe finds a positive aspect, stating, “It’s no fun if it’s easy, is it? We’ve been thrust into the most difficult cup draws and taken us out of our comfort zone.

It’s made us improve. It’s a positive. It is forcing us to improve continually, and to be the team we want to be long term, we have to be exposed to those games to get closer.”
