Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino named Reece James as club captain.

Chelsea’s captain, Reece James, recently underwent surgery to address a persistent hamstring injury. This injury forced him to be substituted after 26 minutes in the match against Everton two weeks ago.

It was his first start since November 25, following an earlier hamstring issue that kept him out for eight games.

In an Instagram post, the 24-year-old mentioned facing increased negativity since his latest injury and shared details about the surgery, expressing that the recovery process, both physically and mentally, has begun.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino did not provide a specific timeline for James’ return during a recent media conference but acknowledged it would be several weeks, with the exact duration uncertain.

James had previously suffered a hamstring injury in August, missing play until October.

His injury struggles have been notable over the past two seasons, and in the current season, he has played in only 24 Premier League games. James also missed the World Cup in Qatar due to knee ligament damage last year.

Despite the challenges, James expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized his desire to be back on the field. Chelsea is gearing up for the festive period, starting with an away fixture against Wolves on Christmas Eve.
