Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall made 31 Premier League appearances in Leicester's 2022-23 relegation season

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Leicester City for a £30 million transfer fee for Dewsbury-Hall.

Chelsea have agreed a £30m fee with Leicester for midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 25-year-old footballer is on the brink of undergoing a medical examination at Stamford Bridge, following which he will commit to a six-year contract, extending his stay until 2030.

Interestingly, the player had turned down a similar transfer offer from Brighton just last week.

Initially, Leicester City had set their sights on a £40 million deal for Dewsbury-Hall. Chelsea’s first bid did not meet this valuation and was subsequently rejected. However, Leicester’s acceptance of a reduced £30 million fee may have been influenced by the stringent Premier League profit and sustainability regulations, which exert considerable pressure on clubs.

Adding another layer to this negotiation, Leicester is reportedly in discussions to acquire 18-year-old midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea. This potential transfer could be a strategic element in the overall deal calculations.

The transfer of Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea is anticipated to be finalized before the 30 June deadline imposed by Premier League profit and sustainability rules, thereby aiding Leicester in adhering to financial regulations.

This move to Chelsea will reunite Dewsbury-Hall with manager Enzo Maresca, who recently joined the Blues after a successful stint with Leicester, leading them to the Championship title last season.

In the previous season, Dewsbury-Hall’s impressive performance saw him net 12 goals and provide 14 assists in 44 Championship matches. His outstanding contribution earned him the titles of Leicester’s player of the season and the players’ player of the season.

On the other hand, Michael Golding, despite having made only one senior appearance for Chelsea, is highly regarded as a promising England youth international.
