Kylian Mbappe made the move from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid in July.

Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net in his first appearance for Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe scored in his debut for Real Madrid, helping the team defeat Atalanta and secure a record-breaking sixth UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw.

The 25-year-old French forward had minimal impact in the first half as Real Madrid struggled to find their rhythm against Gian Piero Gasperini’s disciplined Atalanta side.

However, Real Madrid came to life after the break, with Federico Valverde slotting in Vinicius Jr’s pass to break the deadlock.

As Atalanta began to lose steam, Mbappe doubled Real’s lead by sprinting onto Jude Bellingham’s pass and firing a shot into the top corner.

Atalanta started the match strongly, with Marten de Roon’s shot deflecting off Eder Militao and hitting the Real Madrid crossbar.

With Mbappe playing centrally and Bellingham positioned deeper in midfield, Real’s best chance in the first half was Rodrygo’s effort, which struck the Atalanta bar just before halftime.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team found their stride after the break, and by the time Mbappe was substituted late in the game, the reigning Champions League winners looked in control against the Europa League holders.

Bellingham dazzles as Mbappe enjoys a dream debut

Real’s victory secured coach Ancelotti his 14th trophy across his two tenures with the club.

This win also elevated the Spanish giants above AC Milan and Barcelona, who each had claimed the trophy five times.

Ancelotti’s focus now shifts to securing more titles and finding the optimal system to maximize the potential of his abundant attacking talent.

Bellingham played a much deeper role and was largely uninvolved in the first half, while Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo struggled to find space and receive the ball.

However, a tactical adjustment at halftime moved Mbappe to the left, allowing the English midfielder to take control of the game and shine thereafter.

Bellingham set up Vinicius Jr for the opening goal and shortly after, delivered a precise pass that put the Brazilian through on goal again, only for Atalanta’s goalkeeper Juan Musso to make a crucial save.

With Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba yet to return from injury, unused substitute Endrick waiting for his opportunity, and many of the team’s stars having only trained together five times before this match, Real Madrid’s performance sent a strong message to both domestic and European rivals.
