On December 2, Jaylen Murray played a crucial role, contributing seven of his 22 total points in the last 2 1/2 minutes, leading Ole Miss to maintain their undefeated record with an 80-77 victory over Memphis in Oxford, Miss.

The Rebels, standing at 7-0, received additional scoring from Matthew Murrell with 20 points and Allen Flanigan with 18.

For the Tigers (5-2), David Jones led with 22 points, while Malcolm Dandridge had 13, and Nick Jourdain added 10.

In the second half, Memphis initially built a 43-32 lead with consecutive three-point plays by Jahvon Quinerly and Jaykwon Walton. However, Ole Miss responded with three-pointers from TJ Caldwell and Murrell, closing the gap to three points.

Despite consecutive layups from Jones, Ole Miss mounted an 11-2 run to take a 53-51 lead. Ashton Hardaway’s 3-pointer briefly put Memphis back on top, but Flanigan’s eight points helped Ole Miss regain a one-point lead.

The lead changed hands twice, including a crucial 3-pointer by Murray, before Dandridge’s basket tied the score at 75 with 1:24 left.

Murray’s jumper provided a two-point lead for Ole Miss, but Dandridge responded with a tying layup. In the final 18 seconds, Murray’s driving layup secured a 79-77 lead for the Rebels.

Despite a missed shot from Memphis, Jaemyn Brakfield’s free throw extended Ole Miss’s lead to three points. The Tigers failed to connect on a 3-pointer in the closing seconds.

Flanigan initiated Ole Miss’s 7-0 run at the start of the game, but Memphis responded with Quinerly’s layup and Jones scoring seven consecutive points for a 9-7 lead. Although Ole Miss narrowed the gap to 23-22 with Murrell’s 3-pointer, Memphis maintained control, entering halftime with a 37-30 lead as Ole Miss went scoreless in the final 2:54.
